E-Hailing Driver Shot In Durban During Hijacking Incident

An E-Hailing driver was shot during a hijacking incident in Amaoti, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday. According to the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre, they received a call for assistance from a member of the public at approximately 15:04. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Details of Driver Hijacking Incident

Upon their arrival, officers were flagged down by the occupants of a silver Toyota Corolla Verso on a road leading from Trenance Park to Amaoti. The victim, who was found in the rear seat, had sustained a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.

He informed the officers that he is a service provider for an E-Hailing service and had been summoned to the Pavilion Hotel in Durban Central.

The driver reported that he had picked up two men and transported them to Amaoti. Upon reaching their destination, the clients were joined by two other men who produced firearms. The suspects shot the driver and sped off in his white Toyota Rumion, registration BR09NR-ZN.

Onlookers assisted the injured man and were in the process of transporting him to a medical facility when they flagged down the Reaction Officers. The victim’s current condition remains unknown.

Authorities are investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to come forward. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the police.
