Durban Woman Survives Suicide Attempt After Ex-Boyfriend Shares Intimate Videos In Revenge Porn Attack

A 38-year-old woman from Durban is recovering after a suicide attempt allegedly triggered by her ex-boyfriend leaking explicit videos and images of her to her teenage son, mother, and work colleagues.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the woman’s family contacted them after spotting the 42-year-old man outside their home last Wednesday. The suspect reportedly showed up following a social media post by the victim that enraged him.

The incident began when the woman uploaded a photo of her new boyfriend to her WhatsApp status. This infuriated her former partner, who allegedly began threatening her over the phone after discovering that his friend was now dating his ex-girlfriend.

Ex-Boyfriend Shares Explicit Content in Jealous Rage

After the woman blocked him on all social media platforms, the man retaliated by sharing intimate videos and nude photos taken during their three-year relationship. The explicit material was reportedly sent directly to her teenage son and other contacts.

Overwhelmed by humiliation and emotional distress, the woman attempted suicide but was saved through quick intervention and medical assistance. She is currently in stable condition.

RUSA confirmed that the suspect fled the area before first responders arrived at the scene. Authorities are continuing investigations into the revenge porn incident and the distribution of explicit material without consent.
