Durban Security Guard Arrested After Man Shot 7 Times In Urination Dispute

A 64-year-old security guard is behind bars following a fatal shooting that unfolded on a street in Durban.

Police confirmed that the incident took place on Thursday, 19 February, along David Webster Road. What reportedly began as a confrontation quickly spiralled into violence, ending in gunfire and the death of a 43-year-old man.

Authorities say tensions escalated within moments, leaving the victim fatally wounded in the roadway.

SAPS Confirms Arrest Of Security Guard

South African Police Service spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

“Reports indicate that the suspect, who approached the victim who was urinating alongside the road and an altercation ensued, leading to the shooting,” Netshiunda.

It is alleged that the victim was shot seven times during the confrontation. Emergency services were unable to save him.

Suspect Held at Durban Central Police Station

The accused is currently detained at Durban Central Police Station and is expected to appear in court soon as the murder case moves forward.

Police investigations are continuing as authorities piece together the events that led to the deadly encounter.
