Durban Metro Police Officer Commits Suicide After Killing Wife, Injuring Son

On Monday morning when a Durban Metro Police officer shot his wife and son before turning the gun on himself.

The incident occurred in the Amanzimtoti/Illovo area, south of Durban. While both parents tragically lost their lives, their son miraculously survived the shooting and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

The motive behind this shocking act remains unknown. The South African Police Service has taken charge of the investigation to determine the circumstances that led to this devastating incident.

Durban Metro Police spokesperson Boysie Zungu confirmed the incident and expressed their condolences to the family.

This unfortunate event follows closely on the heels of another disturbing incident involving a Durban Metro Police officer. Sizwe Ngema appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court for a bail application after being arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Yolanda Khuzwayo.

Ngema is accused of stabbing Khuzwayo to death and recording videos and pictures of her final moments, which were then shared on social media. The couple had been consuming alcohol when the attack occurred. Khuzwayo was also a colleague of Ngema’s, and they had met while attending the training academy in 2023.
