Durban Dramatic Shoot-Out: Two Suspects Dead After High-Speed Chase Near Pavilion Mall

Two suspects have died following a dramatic high-speed chase involving police and private security in Westville, Durban, on Thursday morning.

The pursuit ended near a petrol station opposite the Pavilion Shopping Centre, where gunfire erupted between the suspects and pursuing officers.

Emergency services confirmed that two of the suspects lost their lives during the chaotic incident, while a third individual survived and was taken into police custody.

Shoot-out erupts as suspects attempt to flee police

According to Garrith Jamieson, the chase concluded when the suspects were cornered near the busy service station.

Jamieson explained that one of the suspects was fatally shot during the exchange of gunfire with police and security personnel.

“He attempted to escape by jumping over a wall but fell to his death,” Jamieson said, describing how the second suspect died while trying to flee the scene.

The third suspect, who was not injured during the incident, was arrested shortly afterwards.

Durban Police secure crime scene as investigation begins

Members of the South African Police Service and private security teams quickly secured the area following the incident.

Police cordoned off the scene near the petrol station to allow investigators to collect evidence and examine the circumstances surrounding the shoot-out.

Authorities are expected to continue their investigation into the events that led to the chase and deadly confrontation.
