Dumisani Khumalo Returns As Crime Intelligence Head Amid Ongoing Fraud Case

Crime Intelligence chief General Dumisani Khumalo has officially resumed his role at the helm of the troubled unit.
Senior police sources confirmed that Khumalo was reinstated on Thursday morning, months after being temporarily removed from his position.

Khumalo was taken off duty in late June following his arrest in connection with a contentious employment matter.
He was detained alongside six other senior Crime Intelligence officers and charged with fraud and corruption linked to the hiring of 30-year-old Dineo Mokwele.

Mokwele reportedly entered a senior post despite lacking policing experience and without undergoing proper vetting procedures.

While Khumalo is back in his official role, insiders say his bail conditions prohibit him from entering Crime Intelligence offices. These restrictions remain in effect as his case continues through the courts.
Authorities have been contacted for an official response, but no comment has yet been issued regarding Khumalo’s return or the ongoing investigation.
