DStv Now Lets You Pay Your Bill With Rewards Coins As New Content Arrives

DStv has rolled out an exciting new feature for South African subscribers, allowing them to use their DStv Rewards Coins to pay their monthly bills directly through the MyDStv App.

“For the first time ever, customers can now use their DStv Rewards Coins to pay for their bill, directly through the MyDStv App,” said DStv.

Customers earn these coins by spinning the Rewards Wheel on the app or website, completing various challenges, and entering competitions. The upgrade is powered by the new Rewards Wallet, which DStv described as a “simple and intuitive tool” that helps customers manage how they spend their coins.

“Whether you’re unlocking exclusive content, playing games, or settling your monthly bill, the Rewards Wallet makes it easier than ever to enjoy the benefits of being a loyal DStv customer,” the company added.

Subscribers can access the Rewards Wallet by tapping the “Rewards” icon on the MyDStv App’s bottom menu or by swiping right on the account overview screen. From there, customers can view their coin balance, pay their subscription, and play games to earn more coins.

How to Use DStv Coins to Pay Your Bill

Customers who want to settle their DStv bill with Rewards Coins can do so by tapping “Pay Now” on the Rewards homepage. The app then displays a summary of the amount due, the number of coins available, and their rand value.

After confirming with “Proceed to Pay”, users receive a confirmation page once the payment is successful. The company has advised debit order customers to make this payment at least five days before their billing date.

“Use your coins at least five days before your subscription due date to avoid automatic debit deductions,” warned the company.

If customers don’t have enough coins to cover the full amount, they can use the coins for a partial payment and settle the remaining balance using another payment method.

Canal+ Takeover Promises More Content for Viewers

Following Canal+’s takeover of MultiChoice, Canal+ Africa CEO David Mignot has promised subscribers an expanded library of local and international content.

“MultiChoice content is incredible. We will have the ability to use the strengths of the two groups,” said Mignot. “So customers can expect all that is available at Canal+. We have the biggest library of European content, including a lot of American content … like 9,000 movies.”

He revealed that Canal+ produces 4,000 hours of African content annually in up to 15 languages, while MultiChoice contributes 6,000 hours of local programming each year. “Combined, we will roughly provide 10,000 hours per year in 20 to 35 languages,” he said.

Mignot added that the partnership will result in a vast catalogue of more than 100,000 hours of content over the next decade, offering dubbed and rescripted versions for wider audiences.

He also confirmed that Canal+ is reviewing whether to maintain three separate streaming platforms — DStv Stream, Showmax, and its own OTT services — following its full acquisition of MultiChoice on 22 September 2025.
