Drug Lab With Equipment And Products Worth R28 Million Recovered In Standerton

Two South African nationals, aged 24 and 39, are set to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today, following their arrest on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in connection with a massive drug trafficking operation.

The suspects were apprehended in Flora Park, Standerton, just four days after six Mozambican nationals were arrested in a related case.

R28 Million Worth Of Illicit Drugs Seized

The Hawks’ Secunda-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation, working in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, uncovered two clandestine laboratories and seized a significant quantity of illicit substances.

The drugs seized included 35 buckets filled with powder ready to be pressed into tablets, valued at R26 million.

A pressing machine worth R2 million was also confiscated.

Warning To Potential Offenders

Mpumalanga Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Nico Gerber, praised his team for their dedication and warned potential offenders that they will face the full force of the law.

“These arrests and recoveries should serve as a warning to other would-be offenders to refrain from such activities in the province as we will knock on your doors shortly,” Gerber stated.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities continuing to probe the involvement of seven unlocked vehicles found on the premises.
