Domestic Worker Axed To Death, Grandson Of Elderly Woman Due In Court For Murder

A 31-year-old man is expected to appear in the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court on 29 June 2026 after being arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a 64-year-old domestic worker.

The suspect was arrested following an investigation by the Cacadu Crime Prevention and Detectives Unit, which tracked him down at his homestead in the Ndonga Administration Area.

The incident has shocked the local community, with police condemning the violence against a woman who was carrying out her daily work.

Domestic Worker Allegedly Killed With Axe In Cacadu

According to police, the victim arrived at the home of an elderly woman who requires full-time care at around 11:00 on Saturday, 27 June 2026.

She had reportedly begun warming water to carry out her household duties when the elderly woman’s grandson allegedly confronted her and demanded to know why she was at the property.

Police said that while the elderly woman tried to explain the domestic worker’s presence, the suspect allegedly fetched an axe from his bedroom and repeatedly attacked the victim.

The woman ran outside screaming for help but collapsed after sustaining fatal injuries.

Murder Suspect Arrested At The Scene

Neighbours rushed to assist after hearing the victim’s cries for help, but were unable to save her.

She was declared dead at the scene.

Police arrested the 31-year-old suspect shortly afterwards, and he is expected to face a murder charge when he appears before the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court.

Police Condemn Brutal Attack On Domestic Worker

District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph expressed concern over the incident, describing the attack as an example of growing violence against vulnerable people.

“The law must take its course to eradicate such barbaric conduct in our communities,” Adolph said.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the murder are continuing.
