DNA Test Clears Man Accused Of Statutory Rape Of 13-Year-Old

The statutory rape case against 28-year-old Ditebogo Frans Gololo from Limpopo has taken a dramatic turn after paternity tests confirmed he is not the biological father of a child born to a 13-year-old girl. Gololo appeared at the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges of statutory rape.
Allegations and Arrest
The allegations against Gololo stemmed from claims that he impregnated a teenager in Seshego township, resulting in the birth of a baby boy on Christmas Day in 2024.

He was arrested shortly after the minor gave birth and was charged by the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit on December 26, 2024.

Initially, Gololo faced charges of statutory rape and sexual grooming of a minor. However, the grooming charge was dropped due to insufficient evidence. Following the DNA results, which excluded him as the father, Gololo was released on R1,500 bail.
Case Postponed for Further Directives
Mashudu Malabi Dzhangi, NPA regional spokesperson in Limpopo, confirmed that the docket will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further directives. The case has been postponed to May 5 at the Seshego Magistrate’s Court.
