DJ Warras Shot Dead For R7,000, Undocumented Suspect Moves To Apply for Bail

The Mozambican national accused of murdering popular Johannesburg DJ Warrick Stock, known as DJ Warras, has indicated that he intends to apply for bail — despite allegedly being in South Africa illegally.

Armindo Pacula, 25, appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on Monday, facing a charge of murder in connection with Stock’s death.

State Alleges CCTV Captured Fatal Shooting

According to police, Pacula is believed to be the gunman seen on CCTV footage fatally shooting Stock five times in Johannesburg’s CBD on 16 December 2025. Sources further allege that Pacula was paid just R7,00 to carry out the killing.

Security at court was visibly tight, with heavily armed members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) deployed inside the courtroom during Pacula’s appearance.

Arrest In DJ Warras Case, Immigration Status and Bail Concerns

Pacula was arrested on Friday evening by Gauteng’s provincial investigation unit in Primrose on the East Rand. Police say he had been hiding in a shack at the Marathon informal settlement when a tip-off led officers to his location.

He is charged with premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and contravening immigration laws. Pacula has elected to be represented by Legal Aid.

A Legal Aid representative informed the court that the accused was determined to pursue bail, despite concerns over his immigration status and residential address.

“The address that he has given, he is not clear and there is no indication that he has lawful documents to be in SA. But he still insists that he wants to apply for a formal bail application.”

Pacula will remain in custody until next week while authorities attempt to verify his address and continue their investigations.
