DJ Warras Shot Dead After Parking His Vehicle In Johannesburg Central

Popular South African radio and television presenter DJ Warras has been shot dead in Johannesburg Central, police confirmed on Tuesday.

According to authorities, the well-known media personality had just parked his vehicle when he was confronted by three unknown suspects, who opened fire before fleeing the scene on foot.

DJ Warras, whose formal name was Warrick Stock, was previously a producer at 5FM and CliffCentral and was widely recognised within the broadcasting industry.

Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed the fatal shooting and said investigations are ongoing.

“It is alleged that the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot.

“The motive for the shooting is currently unknown.

“No arrest has been made yet, and the investigation is underway.”

JMPD Confirms Officers Were First on the Scene

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) also verified the incident, with Superintendent Xolani Fihla confirming officers responded shortly after the shooting.

“We can confirm the shooting,” Fihla told reporters.

“JMPD officers were first respondents to the incident … they were stopped by members of the public who alerted them to the shooting.

“Any finer details will be released by the police, including the identity of the victim.”

Authorities have not yet released further information as the investigation continues.
