DJ Warras Murder Accused ‘Pointed Him Out’ Seconds Before Gunshots, Court Told

The man accused of masterminding the murder of entertainer Warrick Stock, widely known as DJ Warras, allegedly identified the victim moments before he was gunned down, the Johannesburg magistrate’s court heard on Tuesday.

The claims emerged during bail proceedings, where the state detailed the events leading up to the fatal shooting in the Johannesburg CBD.

Court Hears Chilling Allegation Before DJ Warras Shooting

Investigating officer Captain Abe Montwedi testified that the accused, Victor Majola (44), was sitting with two other men outside Zambezi Flats on December 16, 2025, when Stock arrived.

According to Montwedi, a witness overheard Majola speaking in isiZulu and allegedly saying, “Nangu lo muntu,” meaning “here is the person”, as Stock exited the building. Moments later, one of the men accompanying Majola allegedly opened fire, shooting Stock several times.

Montwedi told the court the group waited while Stock was on his phone before the fatal attack unfolded.

“The accused and the two men waited while the deceased was on the phone. When he finished and attempted to go back into the flats, one of the men with dreadlocks shot him,” Montwedi testified.

The officer added that CCTV footage obtained from a nearby butcher allegedly shows Majola sitting with the suspected shooter before the attack. The footage further indicates that the group left the scene together on foot shortly after the shooting.

Bail Opposed as Accused Denies Involvement

Majola has been charged with premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder, both Schedule 6 offences. He has remained behind bars since his arrest on December 22, 2025.

In an affidavit read into the record earlier, Majola denied any role in the killing, claiming he was a victim of mistaken identity.

He told the court there was no forensic, cellphone or eyewitness evidence directly linking him to the crime. Majola further stated that he was asleep at home at the time of his arrest and fully co-operated with police.

The state is opposing bail, arguing that Majola does not have a fixed address, that key suspects are still at large, and that his release could interfere with ongoing investigations.

Proceedings were briefly adjourned for lunch, with the bail hearing expected to continue later in the afternoon.
