Breakthrough In DJ Warras Killing As Second Suspect Is Arrested

Gauteng police have confirmed the arrest of a second suspect linked to the murder of popular media personality Warrick ‘DJ Warras’ Stock. The development comes weeks after the first arrest in a case that has gripped the city following the fatal shooting in Johannesburg’s central business district.

Stock was shot and killed on December 16, 2025, shortly after leaving a building near the Carlton Centre. He was confronted by suspects who opened fire before escaping the scene.

Crime Intelligence Operation Leads to Arrest in Primrose

The latest suspect was taken into custody during a Crime Intelligence-led operation carried out on Friday night in the Marathon informal settlement in Primrose.

“The Gauteng Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation’s Provincial Investigation Unit has, during a Crime Intelligence-led take-down operation, arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of DJ Warras,” said Brigadier Brenda Muridili.

She added: “The 25-year-old suspect, a Mozambican national, was arrested in Marathon informal settlement in Primrose around 20:00 on 30 January 2026.”

DJ Warras Court Dates Set as Murder Probe Deepens

Police confirmed that the newly arrested suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday, February 2, 2026. He will face charges of murder as well as contravention of the Immigration Act.

“The operation was conducted by PIU, together with Crime Intelligence and Ekurhuleni Metro Police. The suspect will appear before court on Monday, 2 February 2026, facing charges of murder and contravention of the Immigration Act,” police said.

The first suspect, Victor Mthethowakhe Majola, was arrested earlier and charged with premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder. His bail application was denied on January 26, 2026, and he is scheduled to return to court on February 11, 2026.
