DJ Sbu is staying put at Radio 2000—just days after announcing his exit! The veteran broadcaster, whose real name is Sibusiso Leope, took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that he has signed on for another 12 months, despite previously saying he was moving to a new platform.
From Goodbye to “I’m Staying!” – DJ Sbu’s Confusing Exit
Last week, DJ Sbu told fans that he was leaving Radio 2000 ahead of his contract’s March 30, 2025 expiration. He even revealed plans for a brand-new breakfast show launching on April 1.
“I have made the decision to resign as a morning radio host at Radio 2000… This new opportunity presents a fresh chapter in my career,” DJ Sbu wrote.

“I am pleased to let you know that I will be staying with @Radio2000_ZA, having concluded an agreement for another 12 months. Keep your ears tuned in to the Big Breakfast, weekdays 6-9 am.”
However, he did not explain what happened to the new show he had planned.

What’s Really Going On?
While DJ Sbu hasn’t shared why he changed his mind, industry insiders suspect that negotiations behind the scenes played a role. Some believe his new platform deal fell through, while others think Radio 2000 offered him a better package to stay.
Either way, the Big Breakfast Show continues—but was all this just a PR stunt?
