Hayi khona, what happened to “radio makes me sick”?! Just when we thought Dineo Ranaka had left radio for good, Metro FM pulled a “Come back, all is forgiven” move! And guess what? Sis took the deal!

From “I’m Never Coming Back” to Saturday Top 30

On Friday, Metro FM shook up the game by announcing its 2025/26 lineup, and one name that left jaws on the floor was Dineo Ranaka. Yes, the very same Dineo who swore radio stations made her sick is now back on the airwaves, hosting The Saturday Top 30.

At this point, Metro FM might as well play Big Zulu’s “Ivolovolo” for her comeback: “Ngiyabuya sthandwa sam’!”

Dineo Ranaka’s Rocky Relationship with Radio

Let’s not act like we forgot! Dineo was a big deal at Metro FM before she left in 2024 to join Kaya 959. That move? Disaster! Not only did she get fired, but she also battled personal struggles that she wasn’t afraid to share online. She even told the whole country that radio made her sick.

“Radio does not deserve me; it makes me sick. There is no radio station in this country that can contain me, and I’m tired of getting sick,” Dineo said.

“Radio is a boys’ club! It’s abusive. If you are not born male, executives won’t take you seriously,” Also Dineo in 2024.

“I got depression at Kaya FM, I went to initiation school at Metro FM, I fell sick at YFM. I’m done.”

Now fast forward to 2025, and she’s back like she never left? It’s giving contract secured, bills paid, let’s move.

You already know South Africans didn’t let this slide! The streets are calling Dineo out for spinning the block after making a whole scene about leaving radio.

Metro FM Is Adding More Spice

Dineo won’t be the only new face at Metro FM. Former YFM presenter and club DJ Supta (real name Siyabulela Sithole) is also joining the station. After 11 years at YFM, he’s taking over Midnight with a Smile from Monday to Friday, midnight to 3 a.m.

Metro FM’s business manager, Kina Nhlengethwa, made it clear that the station is shaking things up: “We’re blending familiar faces with fresh talent to bring new perspectives. Our listeners are in for a treat, and we are confident that our 2025/26 lineup will keep them entertained and engaged. Metro FM remains South Africa’s top commercial radio station.”

So, Will Dineo Ranaka Stick Around This Time?

The real question is—how long before Dineo calls out Metro FM again?  Will she stay, or will she hit us with another dramatic “I’m done with radio” speech in 2026?

One thing we know for sure? The drama is never over with Dineo Ranaka! We’ll be tuned in—just in case she spills more tea on air.
