Delft Pastor Accused Of Raping 15-Year-Old To Spend Christmas In Jail

The Delft pastor, Ebrahiem Sardien, aged 39, has been embroiled in controversy following serious allegations of raping a 15-year-old girl.
Sardien was arrested on November 17, right after the incident was reported to the authorities. As a matter of public interest, he was anticipated to submit a bail application on Monday, but will instead remain in custody during the Christmas period.
Bail Status For The Pastor
During his second appearance at the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, the case was remanded until January 22 for further investigation rather than proceeding with a bail request.

This development means that Sardien will continue to be detained while inquiries into the alleged rape of the teenager are conducted. It is noteworthy that he is currently on parole for a separate matter, which complicates his eligibility to secure bail in this new case.
Community Response and Support Efforts
Action Society, represented by Kaylynn Palm, has voiced its support for the victim and expressed solidarity with the local community. Alongside Women Impacting a Nation, they attended the court proceedings, showing their commitment to challenging issues of sexual violence.
According to reports, the pastor is accused of picking up the victim under the guise of taking her to bible study, only to lead her to a different location where the alleged assault transpired. This case continues to unfold, and the community remains focused on justice for the victim.
