A fatal shooting near the Voortrekker Road off-ramp to the N12 in Alberton has left one man dead and two others fighting for their lives, triggering a major emergency response.

According to reports, three men were shot in what is believed to be a taxi-related incident. One victim was declared dead at the scene, while the two others sustained serious injuries.

Emergency medical teams, including Netcare 911, arrived quickly and stabilised the wounded before transporting them to hospital for further treatment. Their conditions have only been described as serious, with no additional updates provided.

Multiple law enforcement and security agencies responded to the incident, including CPS Security, JMPD, EMPD and SAPS. The area was cordoned off as officials began preliminary investigations.

At the scene, a white Mercedes-Benz GLE was discovered extensively damaged by gunfire, highlighting the severity of the attack. Authorities also recovered spent cartridges believed to be from an AK-47 rifle, indicating the use of high-calibre weapons.
