Deadly N6 Bus Crash Claims 10 Lives, Dozens Injured

At least 10 people have died, and over 31 others have been injured following a horrific bus and truck collision on the N6 in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred 15 km south of Reddersburg towards Smithfield, involving a City to City bus carrying 33 passengers and a truck.
Emergency services spokesperson Sipho Towa confirmed the severity of the accident, stating:
“The incident has resulted in a significant number of casualties, with over 31 injuries reported and a death toll that has risen to 10 confirmed fatalities. However, this number may still change as the situation develops.”
Rescue Efforts & Road Closures
Emergency services and law enforcement agencies remain on the scene, working to extricate the last survivor from the wreckage.
The crash has led to a total road closure, with traffic being diverted along alternative routes. For travelers from Reddersburg, traffic is being redirected through Edenburg and Springfontein before rejoining the N6 at Smithfield.
Those traveling from Smithfield must take a detour through Springfontein before continuing on the N1 to Bloemfontein.
Authorities urge motorists to exercise caution and use the provided detours while investigations continue.
