BREAKING: Deadly High-Speed Shootout Leaves Two Dead In Ormonde, Roads Shut Down

Two people have been killed and two others injured following a dramatic shooting in Ormonde, south of Johannesburg.

It is understood that three vehicles, carrying an unknown number of occupants, were involved in a high-speed chase when gunfire broke out between them.

The chaotic exchange of shots resulted in multiple casualties, with two individuals confirmed dead at the scene and two others wounded.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this stage.

Police Swarm Ormonde Scene as Shocked Crowds Gather

Law enforcement officials have flooded the area, securing the scene as investigations get underway.

Members of the public gathered nearby, watching as authorities processed the crime scene.

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) confirmed that officers are actively working on-site to manage the situation and ensure public safety.

Major Road Closures and Traffic Chaos in the Area

Authorities have implemented an emergency road closure on Crownwood Road due to the active crime scene.

In a statement the JMPD said: “The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) wishes to inform motorists of a complete road closure currently in effect at the intersection of Crownwood Road and Rente Street in Ormonde.

“This closure is due to an active crime scene. Law enforcement officials are presently on-site processing the area. For public safety and to preserve the integrity of the scene, the roadway will remain inaccessible until further notice.”

Motorists should expect heavy delays on all routes approaching the Ormonde area, particularly the M1 Highway.

Crownwood Road is cordoned off between Rente Street and the surrounding blocks.

Traffic is being diverted by officers on the ground; however, secondary routes are already experiencing high volumes.

Motorists are strongly advised to seek alternative routes to reach their destinations.

They can use Xavier Street or the M1 Highway (Booysens/Gold Reef City exits) to bypass the affected intersection.

Authorities have urged drivers to avoid the area and plan alternative routes as congestion continues to build.
