Deadly Durban Shooting Leaves Metro Cop And Man Dead After Beachfront Brawl

Two men, including a Durban Metro Police officer, were killed during a shooting at the city’s beachfront in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, emergency teams responded to reports of gunfire near the Blue Lagoon public pools just after 2:30am.

“Paramedics arrived to find SAPS and Metro Police in attendance and were shown to where two men were found. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” Jamieson said.
One of the victims, a man in his thirties, was declared dead at the scene. The second, believed to be a metro police officer, was found in critical condition.
Durban Shooting: Officer Dies After Rushed Hospital Effort
Jamieson said advanced life support paramedics worked frantically to resuscitate the officer before rushing him to hospital.
“Unfortunately, shortly after arriving at hospital the patient went into cardiac arrest. Despite all efforts, he was declared dead,” he confirmed.
It is understood that the two men were involved in an altercation before the shooting broke out.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are yet to confirm the circumstances that led to the fatal exchange.
