“The N2 is one of those roads flagged as the most dangerous in the country, particularly the stretch between Khashi Bridge and Mthatha,” Binqose noted.
This fatal incident follows another tragedy in the same area just last week, where four lives were lost.

“It is really puzzling why this stretch continues to witness such frequent and severe accidents. While the data points to its danger, the reasons for these recurring incidents remain unclear,” Binqose added.

Despite being notorious for accidents, the N2 has no apparent physical obstructions or hazards. This has prompted renewed calls for drivers to exercise greater caution.
“There’s a greater responsibility on drivers to be extra cautious and patient to prevent head-on collisions,” Binqose urged.
This latest incident underscores the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and driver awareness on this perilous stretch of the N2.
