Daring ATM Heist At Jubilee Mall Lanky Man In Red Dress Leads Robbery

A lanky man in red has been identified as the leader of the group who carried out the daring heist early Sunday morning at Jubilee Mall in Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria.

This as five of the mall’s nine FNB ATMs were bombed by a group of armed robbers.

CCTV footage shared with the South African Police Service (SAPS) shows the attackers, led by a tall, lanky man wearing a long red dress, using explosives to gain access to the cash.

The robbery took place between 1:09 AM and 2:05 AM, during which a group of 30 men, all masked, executed the heist in a highly coordinated manner.

Robbers Open Fire And Escape With Cash

The gang arrived at the mall in the early hours of Sunday, firing gunshots into the air to intimidate onlookers and likely to delay the arrival of the police.

Centre manager Stephina Lebepe stated that the attackers broke through a pedestrian gate, gaining access to the mall’s premises while other members of the group remained outside, armed with rifles.

Despite the presence of security personnel, the robbers, heavily armed and outnumbering the guards, easily carried out their plan.

Once inside, the gang bombed the ATMs and also targeted a shop’s drop safe before fleeing the scene.

Police Launch Manhunt After Shootout With Robbers

According to Gauteng SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, the robbers encountered police officers during their escape, leading to a shootout.

One security officer was injured and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

The robbers managed to flee without being caught, leaving the police searching for the suspects.

A case of attempted murder and ATM bombings has been opened, although the exact amount of money stolen is yet to be confirmed.

Despite the frightening nature of the incident, many shoppers at the mall expressed resilience, indicating that fear of crime would not deter them from visiting.
