Dali Mpofu Denies EFF Received Money From Sgameka Projects

In the latest twist of the VBS scandal, former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) National Chairperson, Dali Mpofu, has firmly denied that the party ever received any money from Sgameka Projects.

This follows explosive claims made by former VBS Chairperson, Tshifhiwa Matodzi, who recently pleaded guilty to multiple crimes connected to the VBS scandal.

In a deal with prosecuting authorities, Matodzi suggested that millions of rands in ‘donations’ were funnelled to the EFF through Sgameka, an alleged front company.

According to Matodzi’s affidavit, these alleged donations followed a meeting aimed at addressing negative publicity the EFF was directing towards VBS. But Mpofu was quick to dismiss these allegations.

Speaking to 702’s Clement Manyathela, Mpofu pointed out that Matodzi is now a convicted criminal and that his claims should be taken with a pinch of salt. While he was initially unable to confirm whether any money was received from Sgameka, Mpofu committed to investigating further.

After conducting his investigation, Dali Mpofu has come back with a definitive answer: ‘I have been reliably assured that no monies was paid to the EFF from the company called Sgameka.’

This statement aims to put to rest any doubts about the EFF’s involvement in the scandal. Whether this assurance will satisfy the public and the authorities remains to be seen, but for now, Mpofu stands firm on his declaration.
