DA Vows To Hold Former Justice Minister Accountable Amid Cabinet Reshuffle

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is determined to ensure former Justice Minister Thembi Simelane faces consequences for her alleged involvement in the VBS Mutual Bank scandal, despite her recent cabinet reshuffle.
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s reshuffle saw Simelane moved to the Ministry of Human Settlements, with Mmamoloko Kubayi stepping in as the new Justice Minister.
DA Spokesperson Adv. Glynnis Breytenbach criticized the decision and the prolonged scrutiny Simelane has faced and called her retention in the cabinet an insult to South Africans’ intelligence.

”Minister Simelane has been under scrutiny for the last five months. It’s taken the president five months to make this decision; the Lord alone knows why.
“And now he’s moved her from one ministry to another and retained her in his cabinet when it’s very clear that she’s seriously conflicted and seriously compromised, and she should be removed from the cabinet until all this has been cleared up.
To just move her sideways is really an insult to the intelligence of every single South African,” Breytenbach said.
