Ahead of the Municipal Polls in November, the Democratic Alliance (DA) are currently at the Mary Fritzgerald Square in central Johannesburg to wrap up its campaign rally, SurgeZirc SA reports.

President of the DA, John Steenhuisen is slated to deliver his message at the closing rally alongside the party’s federal chairperson in a bid to conclude the party’s campaign trail before the municipal polls.

SurgeZirc SA reports that supporters of the DA are beginning to troop in en mass for the closing rally.

Speaking at the event, the DA Federal Chairperson Ivan Meyer says, “We are pressing the reset button in this election, so I am proud that we are able here in Johannesburg, the financial capital not of South Africa but the financial capital of the African continent. And that we must work not just for the citizens of Johannesburg, not only for the citizens of Gauteng and not only for the citizens of South Africans but also for the citizens of Africa.

“This is the hub; this is the place where things happen. That is why we are launching our final rally here, sending a signal that we are here to fix the financial capital of the African continent and fix municipalities across South Africa.”

“You will hear our delivery track record because our manifesto is not a set of promises it is a set of commitments. They can hear what our real offer is. We are going to change the landscape in South Africa but there are three messages: go out and vote for the Democratic Alliance.

“Secondly, your vote counts when you vote for the DA. Thirdly, you must vote to have more district municipalities under the DA so that you can bring the landscape change across South Africa’s service delivery, growing the economy, creating jobs, making your town safer for your children, and your family that is the core message.”

However, the party’s Mayoral candidate for Mogale City, Tyrone Grey who will be present at the closing rally was in a positive spirit ahead of the municipal polls.

He said: “The leader is going to be detailing offering about how we are going to get things done in local government. As you know, local government is the coal face of service delivery and it is incredibly important that people have access to electricity, water and a healthy safe environment as well as public transport and being tough on crime and the causes of crime, revitialising the local economy, engaging on collaborative housing and good health and governance.”
