Da L.E.S Relocates To U.S. for Recovery After Stroke, SA Shows Support

Rapper and producer Leslie ‘Da L.E.S.’ Mampe is focusing on his health after suffering a stroke in July last year, just a day before his birthday.

The “All Eyes On Me” hitmaker has since relocated to the U.S., where he is receiving specialised care from his mother, Priscillar Mampe, in Washington, D.C.

Da L.E.S Road to Recovery

The stroke, which impacted his mobility, left him hospitalised for over a month before he was discharged to recover at home in Johannesburg. However, his family made the decision to move him to the U.S., where he could receive better medical attention and be closer to his mother.

A close family friend revealed that Da L.E.S. has always been familiar with Washington, D.C., as he was born in the U.S. and often visited his mother.

“His mom took him with her so she could be present in his recovery, and he can get better medical care.”

Industry Friends Show Love

Before leaving South Africa, L-Tido, Cassper Nyovest, and Pastor Kabelo Mabalane visited Da L.E.S. to offer their support.

One of the attendees recalled Kabelo leading a heartfelt prayer for his recovery:

“We had a prayer for his healing; he is doing well, and we can’t wait for him to be back in the game again.”

Family Speaks Out

In July 2024, his family released a statement addressing his condition: “While he is in a stable condition, this remains a challenging time for his loved ones. His family calls on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.”
