Gauteng Crime Warden Shot Dead By Police Boyfriend Using Service Pistol

An Eldorado Park police officer is under police guard in hospital after allegedly killing his girlfriend, Gauteng crime warden Chesnay Patricia Keppler, 22, at her home while on duty. The officer reportedly used his service pistol during the incident.

Incident Details

According to an incident report from Eldorado Park police station, the sergeant visited Keppler, who was off-duty at the time, while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was reportedly on duty alongside a constable when the events unfolded.

Witness accounts suggest the sergeant forced Keppler into a police vehicle during a heated confrontation. Her mother and two friends intervened during the commotion. The sergeant allegedly assaulted Keppler and her friends before they managed to overpower him and retreat into the house, locking themselves inside.

In a fit of rage, the sergeant reportedly retrieved his service pistol, returned to the yard, and fired shots through a kitchen window, fatally wounding Keppler. He then fled the scene.

Tragic Aftermath

Keppler was rushed to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. The officer was later found and allegedly attempted to take his own life when he was about to be arrested.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson Lizzy Suping confirmed that the officer is currently in hospital under police guard. He is facing a murder charge and is expected to make his first court appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on December 30.
