Court Order Seizes Drug-Related Assets In Tamboerskloof, Cape Town

This week, significant assets were forfeited to the government following a major drug bust in Tamboerskloof, Cape Town.  The Western Cape High Court issued a forfeiture order for cash and foreign currencies along with four Krugerrands. The total value of the forfeited assets stands at R361,832.

Details of the Operation

In April 2018, the Hawks received a tip-off concerning suspects allegedly linked to drug possession. A professional DJ was among those implicated.

Following this critical intelligence, a search and seizure operation was carried out at a property in Tamboerskloof. The Hawks’ team discovered a concealed safe in the main bedroom that contained a substantial amount of cash and additional drug paraphernalia.

Discoveries and Legal Consequences

The operation led to notable findings, including various drugs and two ecstasy tablets. A thorough investigation revealed more cash stored in multiple safes within the property and inside a Mercedes Benz ML500 SUV belonging to a suspect.

Furthermore, about 4kg of MDMA was recovered from a locked outside room. The value of the drugs seized during this operation was estimated at R2.4 million.
