Court Evidence Links Underworld Figure Nafiz Modack To Attempted Murder Of Lawyer William Booth

Various forms of the name of alleged underworld figure Nafiz Modack were presented as evidence in court on Monday, suggesting his involvement in the attempted murder of high-profile defence attorney William Booth.

Modack and five co-accused face charges over the 2018 shooting at Booth’s Higgovale residence, which Booth survived.

While Modack admitted he was hired to collect a debt from one of Booth’s clients, he denied any role in the attempted murder.

Evidence Shows Multiple Name Variations Linking Nafiz Modack to Attack

Court documents revealed that co-accused Zane Kilian used several versions of Modack’s name when sending information about Booth, allegedly on Modack’s behalf.

According to the State, Modack paid Kilian to track Booth’s movements in preparation for an attack in April 2020.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans highlighted the references, including “Mo,” “Nafiz 3,” “Naf,” and others, which Kilian reportedly used to signify Modack.

“I’m going to argue you are linked with the reference ‘bo boss boss,’” Wolmarans told the court.

Modack consistently denied receiving any information about Booth from Kilian. “I can’t answer that, my lord. It wasn’t me, my lord,” he told the court.

The case will continue with Modack returning to the dock on Tuesday.
