Couple Arrested After Bloubergstrand Car Guard Murder Caught On CCTV

A couple was arrested following the fatal stabbing of a car guard in Bloubergstrand, Cape Town, after the incident was captured on CCTV footage.

The suspects, a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were traced to their residence and taken into custody shortly before noon on Sunday, 31 August. The attack occurred in the early hours of the morning at Marine Circle, Bloubergstrand.

CCTV Captures Couple’s Fatal Attack

According to police, the footage shows the male suspect exiting his vehicle while the woman, dressed in a red T-shirt, initially remains inside. She later joins the car guard and the two are seen in conversation with the male suspect.

After a brief exchange, the male suspect is seen pulling out a weapon and stabbing the car guard on the left side of his body. The victim collapses between two vehicles as the suspects flee the scene in their car.

Three passersby came to the victim’s aid but he was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Police confirmed that the victim has not yet been formally identified.

Police Response and Arrests

Table View police spokesperson, Captain Adriana Chandler, said officers were able to identify and trace the suspects thanks to the CCTV footage.

“Detectives apprehended two suspects linked to a murder, which occurred during the early morning hours of August 31 at Marine Circle in Bloubergstrand,” Chandler confirmed.

“Officers were busy with routine patrols in the vicinity when they noticed a crowd gathering. An unknown male was found unresponsive, with a stab wound under his arm. Paramedics declared the victim deceased at the scene. On the same day, SAPS Table View detectives obtained video footage from a nearby property. Two suspects were identified and traced to a dwelling in Cape Town, where they were arrested shortly before noon.”

Court Appearance and Charges

The male suspect appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where he faces a charge of murder. The matter was postponed for a bail application.

Police confirmed that the woman, who was initially arrested alongside the male suspect, was released before court proceedings. The case against her was withdrawn following consultation with investigators.

The investigation into the fatal stabbing continues.
