Constable On The Run After Murder Of Soweto Man

A Railway Protection and Security Services (PSS) constable stationed at Park Station is being sought after allegedly fatally shooting a 35-year-old man in Protea Glen, Soweto, on Thursday evening.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson, Lizzy Shuping, confirmed the incident occurred around 5 p.m. Witnesses reported that the victim, who had been watching a soccer match with his brother, stepped outside after receiving a call, where he was allegedly shot by an individual in full police uniform.
Suspect Flees Soweto Scene
The officer reportedly fled the scene in a silver Toyota Etios. The victim, who sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, was pronounced dead at the scene. A bullet and cartridge were recovered, and the body was transported to Diepkloof Mortuary.

Ipid revealed that the accused constable failed to report for his scheduled night duty at Park Station following the incident.
The investigation has been taken over by Ipid, and a murder case has been opened. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of the fugitive officer.
