Concerns Raised Over Zuma’s Security Following Failed Trump Assassination Attempt

In the wake of a failed assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, concerns about the safety of former South African President Jacob Zuma have been voiced by his foundation.

The foundation has urged the South African presidency to enhance government-provided security measures to ensure Zuma’s safety.

The foundation, represented by spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi, believes there are similarities between the attempt on Trump and potential threats to Zuma’s security.

Manyi cited Zuma’s previous assertions about security issues, including a bomb scare during a court appearance in Johannesburg and a car accident in Eshowe in March.

Manyi mentioned several instances that have raised alarms. In the Eshowe incident, a drunk driver collided with Zuma’s car out of approximately 20 vehicles in the convoy.

Manyi also alluded to other undisclosed incidents that contributed to their concerns. The foundation insists that the government-provided security for Zuma needs to be beefed up.

The police VIP protection unit currently provides security for former presidents for life. Although the size of the team is not publicly known, the foundation emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure Zuma’s safety.

Manyi stressed that there is a legitimate expectation for the government to address these security issues, drawing parallels between the threats faced by Trump and those potentially targeting Zuma.
