Company Director Faces Arrest Warrant Over Tax Evasion Charges

The Ventersdorp magistrate’s court has issued a warrant of arrest for John Christopher Conroy, director of CJC Precast, after his failure to appear in court on Wednesday.
65 Tax Charges and Non-Compliance
CJC Precast faces 65 counts of contravening the Tax Administration Act for failing to submit VAT and Company Income Tax (CIT) returns. Investigators revealed that the violations occurred between February 2019 and June 2024.
Despite multiple reminders from SARS – including calls in May 2022 and August 2024, along with written notices – Conroy neglected his legal obligations.

The charges form part of the “Honey Badger Project,” a strategic initiative targeting tax noncompliance. The project aims to ensure that businesses and individuals are held accountable for dodging tax laws.
Praise for Collaborative Efforts
North West Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr. Rachel Makhari, and acting North West Hawks head, Brigadier Silas Munzhedzi, applauded the teamwork that brought the case to the court.
“This case highlights the importance of enforcing tax compliance and ensuring justice prevails,” they said.
With an arrest warrant now issued, law enforcement authorities will proceed to ensure that Conroy faces the charges in court. His actions serve as a warning to others seeking to evade their tax responsibilities.
