Community Demands Justice After Six People Shot Dead In Reiger Park

The Reiger Park community in the City of Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, is reeling after six people were gunned down in a brutal attack that has reignited fears over public safety.
According to reports, the occupants of two vehicles opened fire indiscriminately on Saturday night, leaving six dead and three others wounded.
The motive behind the deadly assault remains unknown, though police have identified two gang members currently on the run as potential suspects.
Authorities have since increased police visibility in the area, but the heightened patrols have done little to calm residents’ fears.
Residents Demand Urgent Action After Shooting
Eyewitnesses and community members who were present when the shooting took place expressed frustration and anguish, calling for justice and immediate arrests.
“Justice must be done. I believe it must be done. I am very upset – I am very sad,” said one resident, echoing the community’s grief and anger.
Many locals say they are living in fear, with some warning that the violence could escalate if swift action isn’t taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Despite police assurances and visible patrols, residents remain deeply unsettled, with many describing the neighbourhood as a “war zone.”
Authorities have not released further information on the suspects or the investigation’s progress.
As the community mourns the lives lost, calls for justice grow louder — a demand that local police can no longer afford to ignore.
