City Power Contractor Arrested For Attempted Bribery In Rabie Ridge

A City Power contractor has been apprehended for allegedly attempting to solicit a bribe from a customer in Rabie Ridge.

The contractor was caught in the act of illegally connecting electricity for the customer, demanding a sum of R800. This incident took place on Saturday, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.

The arrest has raised concerns about the growing trend of illegal connections in the Mayibuye area.

City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, expressed his worry, stating, “It is worrying that this comes as a trend of illegal connections in Mayibuye is beginning to rear its ugly head yet again, not long after completing the installation of meters in the area.”

City Power has taken a strong stance against such unscrupulous contractors, condemning their actions. In their efforts to combat theft, vandalism, illegal connections, and tampering, the entity is determined to pursue all those who enable such activities.
