Chidinma Adetshina Confirms She Won’t Attend Miss Universe Nigeria Finale After Fallout

Chidinma Adetshina has officially confirmed that she will not attend the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 finale to hand over her crown. The event, set to take place on Saturday, 30 August at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos, will see a new queen crowned without her presence.

Sharing her emotions on Instagram and later reposting on X, the 23-year-old wrote:

“I’m having mixed emotions…a lot is happening. My heart is so broken because I am not able to crown my successor. It’s been a hard pill to swallow, but it is what it is.”

Her absence comes amid ongoing controversy and a reported fallout with pageant organisers in Nigeria.

Identity Fraud Allegations and Legal Troubles

The South African-born model has been at the centre of public scrutiny in recent months, following allegations of identity fraud. The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) confirmed last year that her Malawian mother, Anabela Rungo, had illegally registered her birth in South Africa.

Rungo has since been arrested for violating the Immigration Act and the Identification Act.

These revelations fueled speculation about Chidimma’s eligibility to represent both South Africa and Nigeria on the pageant stage. Reports suggest that she fled Nigeria after tensions escalated with organisers.

Chidinma Adetshina Moves From Rising Star to Uncertain Future

Chidimma’s journey has been marked by both triumph and turbulence. Just a year ago, she transitioned from representing South Africa to Nigeria, ultimately winning Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 and going on to compete in Miss Universe Mexico, where she finished as first runner-up.

Despite the fallout, she still holds the prestigious titles of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania and remains first runner-up to Miss Universe 2024. She is also expected to remain part of the global stage, with the next Miss Universe pageant set for 21 November in Thailand.
