Chidimma Adetshina’s Mother Arrested In Cape Town Over Fraudulent Residency

Chidimma Adetshina’s Mother Arrested In Cape Town Over Fraudulent Residency

The controversy surrounding Miss Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has taken a dramatic new turn, as South African authorities have arrested her mother, Anabela Rungo, in Cape Town. The Department of Home Affairs, with assistance from the South African Police Service (SAPS), swooped in on Rungo on Saturday morning, citing fraudulent documentation and illegal residency.

How Did We Get Here?

According to Home Affairs spokesperson Siya Qoza, Rungo’s South African citizenship was revoked in September 2024 after it was discovered that she had fraudulently obtained her documentation in 1995.

This fake identity was later used to apply for Chidimma Adetshina’s South African ID, leading to an explosive scandal that shook the beauty queen’s career.

Despite her “undesirable” status, Rungo allegedly continued to stay in South Africa, using a Mozambican passport to bypass immigration laws.

“Investigations are ongoing into further potential misrepresentation and fraudulent conduct,” said Qoza.

But things took a more shocking turn during the arrest operation, when officials discovered an under-age child—believed to be Adetshina’s—living with Rungo.
