Chatsworth Shooting: Man Airlifted to Hospital After Midday Gun Attack

A man believed to be in his 40s has been seriously injured following a shooting incident in Chatsworth on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to Chatsworth Main Road in the Bayview area shortly after midday, where the victim was found with gunshot wounds.

Chatsworth Paramedics Stabilise Victim Before Emergency Airlift

According to Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics, multiple emergency teams responded to the scene.

Paramedics from ALS Paramedics and Amawele Emergency Services worked together to stabilise the injured man.

“Immediately, Advanced Life Support Paramedics began to stabilize the man believed to be in his forties,” Jamieson said.

Due to the severity of his injuries, a helicopter was dispatched to transport him for urgent medical care.

Airlift to Hospital as Police Launch Investigation

The Netcare911 Aeromedical Helicopter was called in to airlift the patient to a level 1 hospital for specialised treatment.

Jamieson confirmed that the circumstances leading up to the shooting are still unclear at this stage.

Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) were on the scene and have since launched an investigation into the incident.
