Cat Matlala Accuses Bheki Cele Of Lying About Their Relationship: “Yes! He Lied Under Oath”

Controversial businessman Vusimuzi Cat Matlala has openly challenged former police minister Bheki Cele’s testimony in parliament, accusing him of lying under oath about their interactions.

Speaking before Parliament’s ad hoc committee investigating his ties with Cele and suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, Matlala provided a detailed account of their dealings, denying key points made by Cele in earlier testimony.

Matlala confirmed that he paid Cele a total of R500,000 in two separate transactions and assisted with transporting Cele and his wife to a wedding, contradicting Cele’s claims that their meetings were solely for information gathering.

Cat Matlala Refutes Cele’s Claims of Information Gathering

Cele previously told the committee in October that he interacted with Matlala in Pretoria as part of his information-gathering duties. Matlala rejected this, insisting that he met Cele for the first time in Durban.

He also questioned Cele’s motives, stating, “Yes he lied under oath. If he was asking, for me, he was sucking information. Why would he even ask me to ask my protectors to take me and his wife to take him to a wedding somewhere in Lanseria.”

EFF leader Julius Malema pressed Cat Matlala on whether Cele had misrepresented facts to the committee, to which Matlala responded firmly, confirming that Cele had lied under oath.

Cat Matlala further alleged that Cele aimed to undermine Mchunu’s political ambitions and accused him of extorting him, stating that Cele stopped taking his calls prior to Matlala’s arrest in May this year.
