Captain To Thrill Dance Floors With New Single “Cinderella”

Afrotainment’s newest signee, Captain, is poised to make a splash in the gqom scene with his debut single “Cinderella”. 

The song, set to drop today on all digital platforms, promises to take gqom to new heights with its hard-hitting, bass-heavy beats.

Hailing from Ladysmith and based in KwaMakhutha, Captain’s unique sound is inspired by his surroundings and personal experiences. 

What Inspired Cinderella?

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Captain shared the story behind “Cinderella”, which was inspired by a mysterious woman in the studio.

“The way she was beautiful no-one knew what to say to her, even her name and surname no-one knew, but then, me being creative, out of the blue I was like Nangu UCinderella Ngaphans kwe Umbrella [Here’s Cinderella that side of an umbrella].

“The track reimagines the Cinderella story through the lens of gqom, with rolling percussion, anthemic vocal chops, and an infectious rhythm,” He explained.

“I bring a unique vision to the track, capturing the struggle, transformation, and ultimate triumph of being an underdog.”

Captain to Feature Danger in New Song

The song features Danger from Big Nuz and Campmasters, and has already been making waves on the dance floor wherever the artist performs.

Afrotainment’s DJ Tira, who signed Captain to the label, praised the young artist’s hunger for success. “I gave him a chance to see what magic we can create together. The song is pure gqom and proof that the genre is still alive and thriving.”
