Cape Town Mom’s Birthday Turns To Tragedy As Son Brutally Murdered Minutes After Calling Her

A Heideveld (Cape Town) mother’s 47th birthday ended in heartbreak when her son was gunned down just 15 minutes after calling to share his plans for her special day.
“I Just Spoke to Him” – Heartbroken Mother
Carol Fisher told the Daily Voice that her son, Carlyle “Tan” Fisher (21), had surprised her with a new pair of tekkies the day before her birthday and was planning to cook a potjie to celebrate.
“I was sitting in the house and I just spoke to him like 15 minutes before I heard what happened,” Carol said tearfully.
“He told me to make sure I am washed and to make myself look pretty. He brought my gift on Saturday so I could wear it on my birthday.
“I’m so broken up. I don’t know what to do or say. He loved me very much. He was the one who stood behind me after his father’s passing.”

Carlyle was the third eldest of five siblings and a protective figure to his younger sisters. Carol described him as her “pillar,” saying he often mediated family disagreements and reassured her by saying, “Ekke Tan is jou man” (I, Tan, am your man).
Brutal Murder on Bishop Lavis Off-Ramp
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that Bishop Lavis SAPS registered a murder case after officers discovered Carlyle’s body at Robert Sobukwe Road on the N2 off-ramp to Somerset West, opposite Kreefgat (Netreg), at around 10:25am on Sunday, 21 September.
“According to reports, SAPS members received a complaint of a person that was shot at the mentioned address and on their arrival the body of a male was found lying with several gunshot wounds to the head,” Van Wyk said.
The motive for the killing remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
Cape Town Mom Believes Son Was Set Up
Carol suspects her son was lured to the spot where he was murdered, saying he must have known his killers because of the brutality of the attack.
“They killed him so brutally and shot him five times in the head. When I arrived at the scene I saw the body. His face was half on the pavement and half on the ground,” she said.
Carol believes jealousy may have played a role, noting that Carlyle was independent and not involved in gangsterism.
Before fleeing, the suspects allegedly stole Carlyle’s bicycle, cash, jewellery, and tekkies—the same pair he had proudly given to his mother as a gift.
