Cape Flats shooting leaves 35-year-old dead

“Mitchells Plain police responded to a complaint of a shooting on Sunday evening, 8 March 2026, at about 7pm, on an open field in Keerom Street, Tafelsig, and upon arrival on the scene, they found the body of a 35-year-old male who sustained gunshot wounds to his head.

“The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. According to reports, the victim was walking in the street when he was approached by unknown suspects who shot him before fleeing the scene.

“The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related.”

Sources in the area claim the killing may be linked to internal conflict within the Hard Livings gang. The victim, reportedly known as “Troubles”, was allegedly involved in e-hailing robberies.

Community sources also claim tensions escalated after the victim’s girlfriend allegedly went to the gang’s territory to obtain drugs to sell elsewhere and had not returned home.
