Lenovo’s Legion line of gaming smartphones carved out a niche with amazing specs and gimmicks like SSD RAID storage and pop-out cameras. According to Android Authority, the corporation is now entirely quitting the gaming phone sector.
“Lenovo is discontinuing its Android-based Legion mobile gaming phones as part of a wider business transformation and gaming portfolio consolidation.

“As a leader in gaming devices and solutions, Lenovo is committed to advancing the gaming category across form factors, as well as focusing on where it can bring the most value to the global gaming community,” a spokesperson said.
Lenovo’s gaming smartphone difficulties are most likely the result of the company’s failure to build the Legion brand outside of China.
It initially poached a number of personnel from the ASUS ROG team, indicating that it was definitely committed to mobile gaming from the start.
Its most recent Legion-branded phone was the slightly lower-end Y70 unveiled last August, but the final flagship Y90 was released in February 2022, more than a year ago.

With Lenovo out, the only options are ASUS’ ROG gaming smartphone range, the Nubia Red Magic, and Xiaomi’s Black Shark – albeit the latter recently fired off a big portion of its workers.
Lenovo will most likely now concentrate on its Moto range, as well as niche products such as the ThinkPhone as it is shutting down the legion gaming phone business.
