Bryan Mbeumo Double Seals Manchester United’s Third Straight Premier League Win Over Brighton

Manchester United’s resurgence under manager Ruben Amorim gathered momentum as they triumphed 4-2 over Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday, marking their third consecutive Premier League win.

Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a precise strike into the bottom corner — his first goal for the club. Casemiro doubled United’s advantage ten minutes later when his shot took a heavy deflection before finding the net.

Bryan Mbeumo then made it three just after the hour mark with a composed finish, seemingly putting United in total control.

However, Brighton refused to go quietly. Former United forward Danny Welbeck curled home a superb free kick to reduce the deficit, and Charalampos Kostoulas’s late header deep into stoppage time set up a tense finale.

With Brighton throwing bodies forward in search of an equaliser, Mbeumo capitalised on the counterattack, smashing the ball into the roof of the net to seal the result and lift United to fourth in the table. Brighton remained 12th.

United Pass Another Tough Premier League Test

The visit of Brighton represented a significant challenge for United. Since the start of the 2021–22 season, no team had beaten them more often in the league than the Seagulls. Amorim, however, was determined to maintain his side’s upward trajectory following last weekend’s landmark victory at Anfield — United’s first win there since 2016.

“Victory at Anfield was the first time Amorim had achieved back-to-back league wins since taking charge 11 months ago,” the manager noted, warning that the revival would mean little if his side stumbled against Brighton.

Brighton started strongly, with Welbeck testing goalkeeper Senne Lammens early on, but Cunha’s pinpoint strike settled United’s nerves. The Brazilian’s effort added to an impressive record — since the start of last season, no Premier League player has scored more goals from outside the box in all competitions.

Casemiro’s fortunate second extended United’s control, and Mbeumo’s third — following his goal at Liverpool — appeared to end the contest. Yet, defensive lapses allowed Brighton back into the game before Mbeumo’s late strike secured United’s first run of three consecutive league victories under Amorim.
