Brown Mogotsi To Appear Before Parliament Ad Hoc Committee Over Police Interference Allegations

Alleged African National Congress (ANC) fixer Brown Mogotsi is scheduled to appear before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on Tuesday, where he will respond to allegations of police interference.

His long-awaited appearance follows several weeks of postponements. During that time, Mogotsi made security-related requests, asking Parliament to cover the costs before confirming his attendance.

The committee’s hearings resume after a short recess linked to the official opening of Parliament and a congested parliamentary programme.

Parliament Ad Hoc Committee Resumes Hearings On Police Corruption Allegations

Members of the committee convened on Monday to review their list of witnesses after securing an extension to continue their work until the end of March.

Mogotsi’s testimony comes after evidence was presented by forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan, who previously appeared before the panel.

Both O’Sullivan and Mogotsi had sought assurances from Parliament concerning their safety before agreeing to testify in person.

Brown Mogotsi To Address Links To Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala And PKTT Disbandment

Mogotsi has now confirmed that he will give evidence relating to his association with Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and matters surrounding the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).

Evidence leader Advocate Norman Arendse confirmed Mogotsi’s attendance.

“As you can see, the name Brown Mogotsi is there. He is arriving this afternoon by 2.30pm. So, he will be appearing in person tomorrow,” said evidence leader Advocate Norman Arendse.

The committee is expected to hear from O’Sullivan again on Thursday, although members anticipate that his return to the stand will be brief.
