Bride-To-Be, Pregnant Woman Robbed By Policemen

In Verulam CBD, KwaZulu-Natal, on Thursday, a bride-to-be, a heavily pregnant woman, and a third-year Information Technology student were robbed by two men posing as police officers.
The victims, who had traveled from Ndwedwe to Verulam, were confronted by the fake officers shortly after withdrawing cash from an ATM.

Victims Deceived By Fake Police Uniforms
According to a report by Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the pregnant woman and two others were approached by the suspects, who were driving a white unmarked vehicle and wearing full SAPS uniforms.
The men claimed they were investigating a robbery at a nearby business and instructed the women to accompany them for a “pointing out” by the robbery victim.

Believing the officers were legitimate, the victims complied.
Robbery And Abandonment In Temple Valley
As the women ( bride to be, pregnant woman and student), were driven towards Temple Valley, the suspects demanded they hand over their belongings.
Among the stolen items were R700 in cash, two cellphones, a weave valued at R2500, and R13,000 in cash.

The suspects also took the pregnant woman’s iPhone 16 before dumping the victims on the roadside in Temple Valley.
Fortunately, none of the women were physically harmed during the ordeal.
The victims have confirmed that the vehicle was equipped with SAPS markings, which contributed to their belief that the men were genuine officers.

RUSA has launched an investigation into the incident, with body cam footage of the interview with the victims withheld to protect the integrity of the case.
