29-year-old burglary suspect was left bleeding and battered after being overpowered by a brave mother and son.

The incident occurred on Sunday,at a residence on Riverside Road, in Grandhi Hill, KZN.

The suspect had broken in through the kitchen window while the family of five was asleep.

Daring Duo Foils Burglary Attempt

The suspect’s plans were foiled when the 67-year-old mother woke up to investigate noises in the house and discovered the intruder.

Despite being threatened with a kitchen knife, the quick-thinking mother armed herself with a metal pipe and began assaulting the suspect.

Her son joined the fray, tackling the burglar and managing to overpower him.

The suspect, who was extremely combative, even resorted to biting the son on the arm, shoulder, and leg.

Suspect Handed Over To Authorities

During questioning, the suspect claimed that he was sent to break into the home by a drug dealer from Buffelsdraai, KZN.

However, he failed to provide further details. The suspect was handed over to the Tongaat SAPS for further investigation.
