Brackenhurst Horror: Husband Arrested After Wife’s Body Found Stuffed In Car Boot

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after the body of his wife was allegedly found stuffed inside the boot of her car at a shopping complex in Brackenhurst, on the East Rand.

The suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday morning on charges linked to the brutal killing, which police have described as a heinous act of gender-based violence.

Brackenhurst Woman Found With Multiple Stab Wounds

The grim discovery was made on Friday after the woman was reported missing earlier that day.

Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said the deceased was reported missing by a friend on Friday, 9 January 2026, at the Alberton Police Station.

“A search was conducted on the same day and the victim was found inside the boot of her white BMW at Brackenhurst. She was found with stab wounds and was declared dead on the scene,” Masondo said.

The vehicle, a white BMW 3 Series, was parked at a shopping centre and is believed to be registered in the deceased’s name.

Husband Arrested in Connection With Murder

Members of SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation arrested the suspect on Saturday.

“The suspect was arrested today and has been identified as the victim’s husband. He is currently detained at the Alberton Police Station,” Alberton SAPS confirmed.

Police believe the woman was murdered before her body was placed inside the boot of the vehicle.

Authorities have condemned the killing, describing it as another shocking example of gender-based violence in the country.

Ekurhuleni police have opened a murder investigation and are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

The suspect is expected to appear before court on Monday morning. Police said investigations are ongoing and no further details are available at this stage.
