After few days from coronavirus recovery, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has asked UK parliament to meet so as to give him time to announce steps to be taken to fight Covid-19.
Johnson returned to work on Monday after a successful recovery. At some stage, he was even placed at the Intensive Care Unit ( ICU).
Prime Minister will broadly explain measures in place his country will utilize to mitigate the global pandemic. Among other things the PM is expected to clarify, is the daily target of 100 000 people to be tested for coronavirus.
John Newton, a scientist advising the government in testing said he was confident that the target will be met. Newton warned that there will be a tag in the data.
Earlier this week, Johnson was quoted saying the lockdown in the UK would not be relaxed too soon. After the cabinet meeting, he is expected to address the nation about the country’s economy that’s suffering too.
Prof Newton said he was adamant that he was going to reach his target despite some challenges with test kits and other equipment.
The total number of deaths in the UK due to Covid-19 is 26000 with figures growing every day. The Prime Minister’s fiance Carrie Symonds gave birth to their son on Wednesday.
